Do I needle myself? Absolutely, any chance I get. I’m currently treating myself for a shoulder impingement. While I was waiting with my needles in, I looked up the recommended treatment for shoulder impingements on webMD out of curiosity. I couldn’t believe the recommendations:
“Oral anti-inflammatory medications—such as aspirin, naproxen or Ibuprofen remain the most common treatment for impingement syndrome. The medicines are usually given for 6 to 8 weeks since it often takes that long to fully treat the problem. You should do this under he care of a doctor because these medications can cause stomach irritation and bleeding…”
Wait, WHAT? That’s the treatment? I guess I was expecting physical therapy, stretching or maybe even a recommendation for some chiropractic care. But straight to a pill that if taken long term will cause stomach, liver and kidney damage? Is that the best we can do? There’s no reason to turn to these medications while Acupuncture reduces inflammation safely and naturally with zero negative side effects. So, no thank you Mr. WebMD, call me nuts but I’ll stick with my needles, turmeric, and CBD balms for now! But hey, give me a call me when your guts bleed out, because yes, there’s a point for that.🤣 .
P.S. my shoulder feels better
