Pain is the number one reason most people turn to acupuncture.
Whether it’s an orthopedic injury, arthritis, post operative pain, or autoimmune joint pain, acupuncture is a safe and effective treatment for pain of any kind. By inserting hair thin needles into acupuncture points its stimulates the body to release endorphins and opiods which lesson pain and promote sleep in the body. Needles also manually stimulate the injured area encouraging the body to increase blood flow to the effected area, which decreases inflammation.
The total number of treatments required to effect change in a condition varies dependent on the condition: its severity, the duration of the pain and the frequency of the treatments. As a rough guideline, the maximum benefit is usually obtained after approximately 6-12 treatments at weekly or bi-weekly intervals. Three more treatments at monthly intervals followed by one or two occasional treatments may be recommended to prevent recurrence.
